 One Piece (ワンピース Wan Piisu^?) is a Japanese shōnen manga series written and illustrated by Eiichiro Oda. It has been serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump since August 4, 1997; the individual chapters are being published in tankōbon volumes by Shueisha, with the first released on December 24, 1997, and the 67th volume released as of August 2012. One Piece follows the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy, a young man whose body gains the properties of rubber after inadvertently eating a devils fruit, and his diverse crew of pirates, named the Straw Hat Pirates. Luffy explores the ocean in search of the world's ultimate treasure known as the One Piece and to become the next Pirate King. Along his journey, Luffy makes several friends and battles a wide variety of villains, many of whom try to kill the Straw Hats.

  The chapters have been adapted into an original video animation (OVA) produced byProduction I.G in 1998, and an anime series produced by Toei Animation, which began broadcasting in Japan in 1999. Since then, the still ongoing series has aired over 560 episodes. One piece is about an adventures of one team of pirates to chase their dream. They all have something to chase , and they try to be the best of pirates and try to be a pirates king.

The Story

Moments before his execution, the legendary pirate Gold Roger revealed that his greatest treasure, One Piece, was hidden somewhere on the deadly sea route known as the Grand Line. Thus began the Great Age of Piracy, with countless pirates competing to rule the seas and, ultimately, find Gold Roger’s treasure. Monkey D. Luffy is one such pirate. As a boy, he accidentally ate the magical Gum-Gum Fruit, which gave him the power to stretch like rubber — but made it impossible for him to swim. Years later, Luffy sets out in a leaky rowboat, hoping to use his rubber powers and endless optimism to become King of the Pirates.

ONE PIECE GLOSSARY

One Piece – A legendary treasure said to be of unimaginable value. Said to be hidden somewhere deep in the Grand Line by its previous owner, king of the pirates Gold Roger.

Grand Line – The ocean current that follows an imaginary line that runs east to west across the middle of the One Piece world and perpendicular to the Red Line.

Cursed Fruit – These are mystical fruits that give anyone who eats them a varying special super power. There is one side effect however, if eaten you will also lose the ability to swim. There are at the moment three different types of Cursed Fruits.
Paramythia Type – The most common type of Cursed Fruit, these fruits alter the users body in some way. Luffy for example gains the ability to stretch like rubber.
Zoan Type – This type of fruit allows users to transform into different types of animals.

Logia Type – This allows users to change into natural elements.
King of the Pirates – Regarded as the strongest pirate alive and owner of the legendary treasure known as One Piece.
